WHO IS FOR THE CHILDREN AMES | RFKC AMES?

For the Children Ames is the local chapter (431) of the national/international organization meeting traumatized children's needs for over three decades. The video summary here is a great overview but its stats are (gladly) outdated, with volunteers now approaching the 15,000 mark worldwide. Royal Family Kids Camp is one expression of three under the banner of For the Children (camps, mentors, clubs) and sponsored by Christ Community Church - a congregation serving central Iowa for over 60 years.

WE'RE SO THANKFUL FOR THE GENEROSITY OF OUR COMMUNITY.

FTC | RFKC FAQ

Who's running this thing? - FTC | RFKC is sponsored by Christ Community Church, celebrating 65 years in our community in 2024. For leadership information go here.

What are the bottom line needs financially? - Our all-in costs per camper average $1000 for the week. Approximately 85% of this is direct camper cost and the remaining our annual operating budget (trainings, equipment, resources).  Camp is all volunteer led with the exception of our director, whose salary is paid directly by the church and not RFKC.

Why the sponsorship with a church? - As a faith-based entity FTC | RFKC is sustained and staffed by Christians and aims to provide the hope we have found as a significant component of these children's healing and future. But the impact goes both ways, as the program introduces awareness of some of the most vulnerable in our very own community and a means to act in loving unity. For more about our faith-based approach go here. For more about Christ Community Church go here.

Is my donation going to Christ Community Church? - While donations are processed through our general church account, RFKC has a separate budget fund that can only be accessed for RFKC purposes. The church's 5013c provides giving statements annually.
